OXYGEN is Music for body and mind
Ossigeno is a rights management firm established in 1993 after the great success of Pitura Freska, (the most popular Italian reggae band, with seven albums and nearly half a million copies sold), to manage their repertoire and to control the band artistic profile in accordance with their own decisions.
"Ossigeno", in fact is the title of first Pitura Freska audiotape, produced during the preparation of their first album, to contrast the sale of pirate recording of the always more crowded concert held in Veneto at the end of the 80's.
At that time "ossigeno" was, in Pitura Freska slang, the word for what was useful to get in touch with music and vibrations you get from it.
And so, together with the title, also the feeling that music is "oxygen for body and mind" has moved into a rights management firm.
Its main activity, in these years, has been the continuous search for new composers, often unknown, to share a musicalpath and to offer the opportunity to grow and to bring out their music. Ossigeno catalogue, in fact, is actually mainly made of Italian authors coming from the most various experiences, origins and styles.
Ossigeno catalogue includes, besides the complete Pitura Freska repertoire, from their birth up to the solo projects of its components Sir Oliver Skardy and, a lot of reggae and ska music (Dr. Duse, Raymond Wright, Fahrenheit 451, Stiliti, ...), world music (Nossa alma canta, Patrizio Trampetti, Tacabanda, Batisto Coco, ...), electronic (Daredevil, Tantra, ...). The musical score of Marco Paolini's theatrical works "Il Milione", "Bestiario Veneto" and the movie "Questo radichio non si toca" composed by Fabio Furlan, various works by Giovanna Marini like "Ustica" "La ballata del carcere di Readings", "La torre di Babele", and more, blues (Lagunabl`, B-Wops, ...) contemporary music (Eddy De Fanti), and eclectic composers like Fabio Koryu Calabr`, Paki Zennaro, Bebo Baldan and many others.
With the start of the new millennium, Ossigeno has decided to evolve and to produce a new project: alma music.
alma music is an independent record brand of modern conception between the classic and the new digital record industry.
Keeping up with the times, it is closely connected with the net. Not only Internet, but also the net linking record labels, self-producers, production centres and different associative initiatives. Everything with the greatest respect for artists and producers choices, with proposals embracing a wide musical range, from reggae to world music, from pop to rock, from new age to electronic music.
Alma music catalogue (www.almamusic.it) is organized into various labels (Lion, Rasta Snob Records, Taksim) with different distribution or sales channels, except for the digital distribution sector where Ossigeno has directly developed its own direct sale relationships, making the whole alma music catalogue available for download on iTunes, Media World, MSN (Microsoft), MTV, Packard Bell, Messaggerie Digitali, Radio 105, Radio Montecarlo, Tiscali, United Music Store, Virgin and many others.
Having experienced the difficult work necessary to be present in the e-store of the whole world with alma music catalogue, Ossigeno has decided to offer to other independent labels its service of digital distribution.
It is therefore born in 2006 Ossigeno Digital Distribution, joined by labels like Vedette Records, Storie di Note, High Tide, Nota Music, Caligola Records, Tauri.
